Artificial Intelligence

In the future, there will be additional applications for AI. It was a significant week for AI news as Google and Microsoft used dueling events to introduce the public to their AI advancements. With the announcement that OpenAI’sChatGPT-like technology was coming to Bing, Microsoft fared a little better, propelling its companion mobile app into the top rankings of the App Store. Google made a mistake with their competing AI, Bard, which shared an incorrect response to a query regarding the James Webb Space Telescope in a published demonstration of the technology.

The fact that Google didn’t double-check the answers it was showcasing suggests the company was rushing out the technology in response to Microsoft’s move into its territory. Even though both AI models will frequently and confidently make mistakes at times, this was different from the answers Google provided.

Google should have been well ahead in this race, given its years of investment and development of AI technology with aid from some of the top experts in the field. It was caught off guard, though not just by OpenAI.

Sonia Randhawa mentions that before the current AI competition, the voice assistant Alexa gained popularity. Alexa is powered by artificial intelligence. On the other hand, Google suffered a setback when it displayed some of its most remarkable AI consumer applications. For its consideration of AI ethics, Duplex faced criticism when it was shown making reservations over the phone while appearing as a human. Google routinely creates cutting-edge AI tools, such as an AI that can produce music from written descriptions, but these are never made available to the general public.

The firm has been dragging its feet regarding AI, probably out of fear of upsetting its search and advertising cash cow, which depends on ads sold above a list of links. However, Microsoft doesn’t give a damn because every 1% increase in search ad share represents a $2 billion income opportunity.

Due to this, instead of a significant, expensive redesign of search that may have destroyed Google’s profit margins, we’ve got a constant trickle of smaller AI-powered feature drops over time from Google.

In its place, we have tools like multi-search, which broadens the online search to include both text and picture search. Google said it was going worldwide and that the local search option, multi-search near me, was also becoming more widely available.

Sonia Randhawa says that there is no doubt that consumers want to use AI in their favorite apps. The changes also breathe new life into Apple’s App Store, which has grown stale over the years as a result of blocking other emerging technologies like NFTs, blockchain transactions, and Web3 from being fully functional on its platform, forcing businesses to create their own.
